BISHOP FRANCIS HODUR

1896 -The Roman Catholic Church alienated Polish-Americans by not recognizing their traditions and culture.  In Scranton, Pennsylvania, Polish parishoners sought 

the right to choose their own priest 

and control parish property..  

1897 - The Scranton congregation organized their own parish and bought property for a new church; St. Stanislaus Church.

1898 - Other Polish Catholic churches in American joined the Scranton movement and cut all ties with the Pope and the Vatican.

1897 -  Father Hodur was a native Pole and was chosen the first Pastor of St. Stanislaus Church and led the first worship service.

1900 - He celebrated the first Christmas Eve mass in Polish, which helped unify the church.

1907  - Father Hodur was consecrated Bishop by the Union of Old Catholic Churches, thus confirming apostolic succession.

1924 - He became the  first Prime Bishop of the P.N.C.C.

He drafted the Confession of Faith, the 11 Great Principles, published the first God's Field Church newspaper and 

organized the Spojnia society.

1953 - Father Hodur died.

PRIME BISHOP ANTHONY MIKOVSKY

Bishop Anthony Mikovsky is an American Polish National Catholic bishop. He is Prime Bishop of the Polish National Catholic Church, having been elected at the General Synod of the church in October 2010 and his installation on November 21, 2010, at St. Stanislaus Cathedral, in South Scranton. Bishop Mikovsky was previously the Bishop Ordinary of the Central Diocese of the Polish National Catholic Church.

1907 - Savonarola Theological Seminary 

was founded and expanded.

1913 - "Confession of Faith" adopted.

1923 - "11 Great Principles" adlopted.

These set down the beliefs and philosophy of the Church and they remain intact today.

The Polish National Catholic Church became widely accepted and Auxiliary church organizations flourished.

A Polish fraternal society, 

"The Polish National Union of America" was founded and carried on many vital activities such as establishing schools and publishing the Church newspaper "Straz".

The Church today has 140 parishes in the U.S., Canada and Poland; with 156 ordained clergy and over 25,000 members.
